Earthen Fortification Site

There was an earthen fortification around the former crematory in Ami-dong that stretched south, passing where Toseong Middle School is today. The inside of the fortification was about 13,223 square meters and the wall was 1.2 to 1.5 meters high.

The earthen fortification was destroyed when the Japanese residents built Busan High School for Girls (moved to Seodaesin-dong, then to Hadan-dong where it is now Busan Girls’ High School) where Toseong Middle School is today. Toseong Elementary School and other buildings came after. Now, there is no trace of the fortification. Based on the crescent-shape of the earthen fortification, the structure is thought to have been built when the Silla Dynasty or Gaya Confederacy ruled the area to defend their territory from the Japanese.
