Buminpo

Buminpo is the former name of the area around Nampo-dong, Chungmu-dong, and Nambumin-dong where Bosucheon Stream meets the sea next to South Port. The area was nothing but a small fishermen’s village catching codfish and herring from the adjacent sea before the major reclamation project began for South Port in 1925.

Buminpo transformed into a modern port after the development project that lasted from 1925 to 1936. The nondescript fisherman’s village had transformed into a major industrial fishery within just a few decades.
