The Citizens’ Walk-a-thon was organized to promote the newly open Songdo Beach and Namhangdaegyo Bridge, which will help Seo-gu become a global logistic hub and tourism region.
The two landmarks are expected to bring in more revenue and generate more growth in Seo-gu that is slightly away from the downtown area. It also promotes exercise and good health among the citizens. Another walk-a-thon takes place during the Busan Mackerel Festival in autumn, an event to promote Seo-gu’s feature produce, mackerel

Course - Citizens’ Walk-a-thon to Celebrate Namhangdaegyo Bridge Opening: Songdo Beach↔Namhangdaegyo Bridge and back again, approx. 6km
- Citizens’ Walk-a-thon to Celebrate Busan Mackerel Festival: Songdo Coast Bolle-gil Walkway (Songdo Beach↔Amnam Park and back again, approx. 7km)
Anyone who is a Busan resident can participate. - Citizens’ Walk-a-thon to Celebrate Namhangdaegyo Bridge Opening: attracts approx. 30,000 people each year
- Citizens’ Walk-a-thon to Celebrate Busan Mackerel Festival: attracts approx. 5,000 people each year
Event Details - For all participants: safety education, warm-up exercise, course briefing
- Musical performances available at resting points and at the end of the walk-a-thon to create a pleasant atmosphere
