Busan Public Hospital was established in Gwangbok-dong, Jung-gu on April, 1885. It became Busan-bu Hospital in 1914 and moved to Ami-dong which is the current Busan National University's College of Medicine in 1934. It has been known as 'the place that saves people's lives' since it became a hospital in affiliation with Busan National University's College of Medicine as it was established on Novemebr 1956. Now there are many good general hospitals with good facilities but until the 60's there was no general hospitals in Busan. So the presence of the hospital in affiliation with Busan National University was of a great reputation in Busan.
